The NICEST Lab seeks to understand, from both theoretical and practical perspectives, how to “best” communicate data over networks. The lab’s faculty leaders—Natasha Devroye, Hulya Seferoglu, Besma Smida, and Daniela Tuninetti—prize the involvement of graduate student researchers in their work and strive to provide research opportunities for undergraduates as well.
Work by NICEST Lab members recently has been presented annually at the IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, IEEE International Conference on Communications, the IEEE Radar Conference, and other premier academic and practitioner gatherings. Their work has appeared in IEEE Transactions on on Wireless Communication Letters, IEEE Antennas Wireless Propagation Letters, IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, and other publications.
The NICEST Lab is housed in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and benefits from the committed support of the College of Engineering.
